This workshop will explore data analysis and visualization from a data feminist perspective, exploring methods for critical making and physicalization through arts and crafts. Data physicalizations create tangible, embodied representations of data, engaging both creators and audiences in the labor behind the data, its contents, and presentation.

ArcGIS StoryMaps is a digital storytelling tool that allows you to combine interactive maps with narrative text, images, and multimedia. With the rise of geographic information systems (GIS), accessible online tools and modes of publication, digital mapping has become a powerful tool for underrepresented and marginalized communities to tell their own stories, resisting colonial narratives and visualizing erased histories. With ArcGIS tools, communities can combine oral histories, archival documents, and interactive tours.

Digital humanities brings together scholarship that uses computational methods for the study of traditional humanities disciplines, traditional humanities inquiry for the study of computation, and the use of digital publishing practices for rich, multi-modal storytelling. Digital humanities thus encompasses a wide range of topics and methods including: augmented reality and virtual reality; cultural analytics, text analysis, and AI; mapping and GIS; network analysis; digital archives and exhibits, digital storytelling, publicly engaged scholarship, digital editions, and more.
