Location – Tisch Library, Medford MA

Description:

Student Mailroom Assistant is accountable for the general order of the Tisch Library mailroom and the receipt of all items coming into it. Opening, sorting, and distributing incoming mail are the primary tasks of this job. This job requires commitment of time on a regular basis and schedule. Once trained, applicants must be able to work independently and complete assigned tasks within their regular time schedule.

Description:

Equipment Assistants clean, maintain, and troubleshoot circulating and recording room studio equipment while supporting patrons and staff in the operation of equipment and related software through public events, trainings, and orientations. Training is provided, but prior experience with photo, audio, or video equipment is preferred.

Location – Lilly Music Library, Medford MA

Description:

The music library relies on student workers to cover the public service desk when the library is open. Some of the duties include checking library materials in and out, giving special attention to number of scores and parts, and number and condition of sound recordings, and assisting with the self-checkout kiosk. Sorting returned materials so that they go to their proper location and shelving those materials; searching for requested items and placing them on hold; routing items in from other locations; routing items out to Interlibrary Loan; other special processing. Answering routine questions (by phone and in-person) about policies, hours, locations and availability of materials, etc; referring non-routine questions to library staff.

Location – School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston MA

Description:

The SMFA library relies on student workers to cover the public service desk when the library is open. Some of the duties include checking library materials in and out, provide interlibrary loan scanning, and assisting SMFA Library staff with stacks related projects. Other tasks include sorting returned materials for their proper location and shelving those materials; searching for requested items and placing them on hold; routing items in from other locations; other special processing. Answering routine questions (by phone and in-person) about policies, hours, locations and availability of materials, etc; referring non-routine questions to library staff.

Description:

This position is responsible for the processing of physical library materials. This includes stamping, labelling, reading Library of Congress call numbers, binding items with needle and thread, covering book jackets, packing items for shipping, and participating in special project among other tasks. Must be detail sensitive and be comfortable working independently. The student must be able to lift 40 lbs and move a full truck of books.

Student needed to start working soon in Tisch Library for the Resource Management and Repository Services Department (RMRS) receiving and cataloging books. Position includes working at Tisch Library, in the RMRS Department, working independently at a student station.

Description:

Data Entry Operator responsibilities include collecting and entering data in Microsoft Excel and maintaining a clean and accurate spreadsheet. Our ideal candidate has essential data entry skills, like an eye for detail and familiarity with spreadsheets and online forms. You will report to Library Assistants at the beginning and end of every shift and note any problems or discrepancies that occur. Ultimately, a successful Data Entry Operator will be responsible for maintaining accurate, up-to-date and useable information in our systems.

LocationLilly Music Library, Medford MA

Description:

The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) & Collections Resident will engage with a selection of music materials created by or about underrepresented composers or performers to create content for a physical and/or digital exhibit (view past example). The resident may also identify music materials that will be considered and purchased for the library collection; and contribute information related to exhibit content about the composers, performers, and/or compositions to Wikipedia articles, library-created digital resources, or on social media platforms. The content creation and exhibit work will be primarily asynchronous and done independently by the student. Regularly scheduled check-ins and relevant training will be provided during the residency.

This role will provide the student with an opportunity to engage with materials in the Lilly Music Library that will amplify and center the work of underrepresented musicians, including women and Black, Indigenous, and people of color. The student will gain expertise in curating exhibit content, locating information about emerging and contemporary musicians, and using digital exhibit technologies.

Description:

The Digital Design Studio is an educational resource for entry into digital design, supporting student course and research projects, as well as independent and extracurricular work by students, faculty, and staff.

Studio Assistants are the first line of support in the studio, welcoming patrons and responding to their questions, as well as providing service for our large-format printing appointments and recording room reservations. Additionally, Studio Assistants clean, maintain, and troubleshoot the studio space. The position is primarily independent work with minimal supervision, but we provide training on our core services.
