The second floor of Tisch Library will have new carpeting installed starting on July 13 and continuing through August 22. The library will remain open during this period, but the carpeted area of Tisch past the lobby will be closed starting July 13. The Hirsh Reading Room will remain open.
As President Monaco shared with the Tufts community on June 6th, this year marks Tufts' third observance of Juneteenth. Staff across the Tufts libraries have brought together information (yes, mostly books, but also some audio and video sources) to situate the historical context of the first Juneteenth celebrations, works by this year's keynote speaker Dr. Jelani Cobb (bio), and some key works of anti-racist theory.
We are pleased to announce the first two projects funded by the Tisch Affordable Course Materials Awards for the 2022-2023 academic year. Congratulations to Steven Bell (Electrical and Computer Engineering) and Mark Kachanov (Mechanical Engineering)!
To celebrate the end of the school year and relationships built in residential communities on campus, RAs and their residents are invited to come design a poster to represent or commemorate their residential community and spirit. Participants will be guided by Studio Assistant and RA Heather Huang '23 to collaboratively make a poster using Google Draw (connected to the projector so that those who are not working can see what is happening in real-time). Participants will each have 10 seconds to add one thing, pass it off to the next person, and go around until the design is complete.
Come see artwork made by the Tufts Community in the annual DDS Showcase, deliberating on the theme of Dreams. Several of the artists will speak about their work, and we will be screening the video submissions during the reception. Snacks will be provided to take away.
Please join Tisch and SMFA Special Collections for “Manuscripts Medieval to Modern I: Handmade Meditations” on Wednesday, April 6th from 12:00–5:00 PM in Tisch Library Room 302! This will be the first in a series of three events that will continue in the Fall. The exhibit will feature talks each hour from 1:00–4:00 by faculty members, students, and local artists on the medieval and contemporary manuscripts on display. We look forward to seeing you there!
