Panel presentation of Tisch Library Graduate Fellows in Arts and Humanities 2023

Join us to hear the presentations of the 2023 Tisch Library Graduate Research Fellows in the Arts and Humanities, whose thesis and dissertation research projects make creative use of collections, services, and expertise at Tufts libraries. Our 2023 fellows are:

  • Jenny Henderson, PhD candidate in Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies. Jenny's research asks how thinkers and artists, particularly from Black and Native communities, interrogate the intertwined crises of sexual violence and colonial geographic conquest through performance in a North American context.
  • Manjari Mukherjee, PhD candidate in Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies. Manjari's research creates new narratives in Indian cultural history by connecting the seemingly disparate worlds of Bombay cinema history and the Baghdadi Jewish diaspora by suturing together the spectacular on-screen lives and the mundane off-screen experiences of these racialized women between the 1920s and the 1960s.
  • Emily Palermo, PhD candidate in English Literature. Emily's research on Southern literature argues that to fully understand the vital, ongoing significance of the South as a site of struggle, we must turn to the work of twentieth and twenty-first century theorists and authors who remap the South as a place of dynamic and complex emotions.
  • Nicola Solly, PhD candidate in English Literature. Nicola's research focuses on the therapeutic potential of "psychotic literature" in the twentieth century showing that inventive literary work can function as a form of therapy for the writer precisely because of its psychotic features.

The fellows will make brief presentations of about 15 minutes each followed by questions from the audience. This award is jointly sponsored by Tisch Library and the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, with the support of the Center for the Humanities at Tufts.

Location: Tisch Library Room 226 (Austin Conference Room)
