Register for an Alumni account

AS&E and SMFA alumni can register for an alumni library account to borrow physical books, CDs, and DVDs, as well as select online resources, by completing this form. Your graduation from Tufts will need to be verified. Once you are registered, your alumni account will be valid for five years and is renewable.

Fletcher School alumni can register through Ginn Library.  Boston health sciences campus alumni can register through Hirsh Library. Grafton campus alumni can register through the Webster Family Library.

Please visit our Loan & renewal periods page to learn more about what an alumni account at Tisch, Lilly, and the SMFA libraries allows you to borrow as well as how long you can keep it. Use JumboSearch to browse our collection. AS&E alumni may also borrow print books from Ginn Library for 28 days. 

To view a list of items you currently have checked out, go to "My Account" in the upper right corner of this page. When prompted to login, select "Email Address" (the second option) and enter the email address registered with your alumni account. You will then receive an email that includes a link to access your account information.

Alumni cannot borrow material through Interlibrary Loan at Tufts, but you may be able to use Interlibrary Loan services at your local public library.

You can access Tufts Masters and PhD candidates’ theses and dissertations through Tufts Digital Library.

Please note: Ebooks and streaming media (audio/video) access are limited for alumni due to our licensing agreements. We recommend contacting your local public library to access ebooks.

Confidential Print: Africa, 1834-1966
The Confidential Print: Africa, 1834-1966 is Official British government correspondence concerning Africa from the Foreign Office and the Colonial Office. The papers range from single-page letters or telegrams to comprehensive dispatches, investigative reports and texts of treaties. All items marked 'Confidential Print' were printed and circulated immediately to leading officials in the Foreign Office, to the Cabinet, and to heads of British missions abroad. From coastal trading in the early nineteenth century, through the Conference of Berlin of 1884 and the subsequent Scramble for Africa, to the abuses of the Congo Free State, fights against tropical disease, Italy's defeat by the Abyssinians, World War II, apartheid in South Africa and colonial moves towards independence, the documents in Confidential Print: Africa cover the whole of the modern period of European colonization of the continent.

Confidential Print: Middle East, 1839-1969
The Confidential Print series, issued by the British Government between c. 1820 and 1970 consists of the most important internal papers generated by the Foreign and Colonial Offices (FCO). These range from single-page letters or telegrams to comprehensive dispatches, investigative reports and texts of treaties. All items marked 'Confidential Print' were printed and circulated immediately to leading officials in the Foreign Office, to the Cabinet and to heads of British missions abroad. The 'Confidential Print: Middle East, 1839-1969' collection consists of the 'Confidential Print' FCO documents for the countries of the Levant and the Arabian peninsula, Iran, Turkey, Egypt and Sudan. Beginning with the Egyptian reforms of Muhammad Ali Pasha in the 1830's, the documents trace the events of the following 150 years, including the Middle East Conference of 1921, the mandates for Palestine and Mesopotamia, the partition of Palestine, the 1956 Suez Crisis and post-Suez Western foreign policy, and the Arab-Israeli conflict.

This digitized primary source collection draws from British Foreign Office files and contains a wide variety of formats including diplomatic dispatches, telegrams, newspaper cuttings and transcripts, maps, photographs, political and economic reports, accounts of visits and tours, minutes of meetings, conference proceedings, letters, leaflets and other ephemera focused on India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, but also covering Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim and Kashmir. The collection is organized into three sections: Independence, Partition and the Nehru Era, 1947-1964; South Asian Conflicts and Independence for Bangladesh, 1965-1971; and Afghanistan and the Cold War, Emergency Rule in India, and the Resumption of Civil Rule in Pakistan, 1972-1980.

Sourced from the UKs National Archives, Foreign Office Files for the Middle East, 1971-1981 is a collection of primary sources, including analyses, annual reviews and diplomatic correspondence, on topics such as the Arab-Israel and Iran-Iraq wars, as well as civil conflicts in Lebanon, Iran, Cyprus and Yemen. It is organized in three parts. (1) The 1973 Arab-Israeli War and the Oil Crisis (1971-1974) and (2) The Lebanese Civil War and the Camp David Accords (1975-1978) are currently available, and (3) The Iranian Revolution and the Iran-Iraq War (1979-1981).

Indigenous Histories and Cultures of North America
Materials from the Newberry Library's Edward E. Ayer Collection are brought together in this database to document interactions between Indigenous Peoples in North America and European colonists from their earliest contact, continuing through the turbulence of the American Civil War, the on-going repercussions of government legislation, right up to the civil rights movement of the mid- to late-twentieth century. Included are manuscripts, artwork and rare printed books dating from early European colonization, up to photographs and Indigenous newspapers from the mid-twentieth century.
