Posted: Mon, Jun 7th 2021

We are pleased to announce the recipient of the Summer 2021 Tisch Library Open Educational Resources (OER) AwardCongratulations to Ioannis Evrigenis of the Political Science department!

The award program provides financial support for faculty & instructors in the Schools of Arts, Sciences & Engineering who are interested in adopting or creating OER for their courses. It encourages cost savings for students and aims to contribute reusable learning objects created at Tufts to the larger scholarly community. By facilitating the use & creation of open material, it aims to create more equitable access to learning and enable inclusion of diverse perspectives and experiences that may be absent from existing textbooks or literature.

We are currently accepting applications on a rolling basis from faculty & instructions who are adopting or creating open course material for Summer 2, Fall 2021, or Spring 2022 courses.

Summer 2021 awarded project

ED191C: Civics Workshop for MA Teachers

ED191[TBD]: Intro to Civic Studies for MA Teachers

ED191[TBD]: The Declaration of Independence

Three civics workshops for Massachusetts teachers, through the University College program, which will consider how to enhance civics education in middle and high school curricula. The grant from Tisch Library will support putting together resource packets that include information about where to access OER material and the OER material itself. This OER content will be used to teach the workshops, and then can subsequently be used by the workshop participants in their own classrooms. The resource packets and course materials will be made openly available after the workshops are taught.
