Request a Class Library Visit

Library users are welcome to visit the SMFA Library any time we’re open, without an appointment. If you’re an instructor and would like to bring your class to the library, we ask that you schedule your visit with us in advance so we're prepared to meet your needs. 

For faculty

Class meeting with a librarian

SMFA librarians are happy to work with you to design a customized library visit for your class.  Please fill out the SMFA Library instruction request form at least two weeks before the date you’d like your class to visit.

Examples of class meetings with a librarian include: 

  • Mind-mapping & research session
  • Presentation of artists' books & zines from our collections
  • Custom library workshop
  • Library instruction tailored to a specific assignment 

Class visit without a librarian

If you would like to bring your class to the library and no librarian is needed during the visit, please fill out the SMFA Library instruction request form at least one week before the date you’d like your class to visit.

Examples of class visits without a librarian include:

  • Browsing the collection 
  • Browsing a specific section related to your class 
  • Checking out books for an assignment
  • Viewing specific items from our Special Collections (requested via the form)
