Can I check out books from the SMFA Library? 

Can I check out books from the Tisch Library? 

Our alumni may borrow materials from the Tisch, Lilly, and SMFA Libraries. 

Do I have access to online databases? 

You can register with the Tufts Alumni Online Community to access a selection of databases, including JSTOR.

I’m a graduate of Tufts but didn’t attend SMFA. Do I have access to the SMFA Library? 

All Tufts AS&E alumni have access to our collections. 

Does the SMFA Library take donations? 

We are happy to consider donations. If interested, please contact smfalibrary@tufts.edu.

Is the SMFA Library open to the public? 

Yes! You can find our hours on the hours page. 

I’m researching a graduate or attendee of SMFA. How can I access the SMFA archives? 

The SMFA archives are now part of the Tufts Archival Research Center (TARC). Visit the TARC website for contact information and details about access. 

I work at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Do I have access to the SMFA Library? 

To request an SMFA Library account, first contact the staff at the MFA Library, who will forward your request to us if it is approved. 

I attend or work at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Do I have access to the SMFA Library? 

To request an SMFA Library account, fill out the account request form. MassArt Library staff will forward your request to us if it is approved.
