Analyzing Historical Documents with Minimal Computing Methods

Instructors: Anna Kijas, Assistant Director, Digital Scholarship & Lilly Music Library; Kaylen Dwyer, Digital Humanities Librarian

Are you interested in analyzing historical or primary source materials using digital methods but don’t know where to start? In this workshop we will use hands-on document analysis and minimal markup as an approach to exploring historical materials before moving to light tagging using the TEI XML. We will provide sample material for participants to work with. You are welcome to bring your own material (copy or transcription) if you are already working with historical or primary sources.

You will need a laptop. We will provide materials and writing utensils.
