The Hereford Mappa Mundi: A Medieval Worldview

The Hereford Mappa Mundi (c. 1300) is a richly illustrated and beguiling work of cartography that attempted to situate the entirety of the known world geographically, temporally, and spiritually. Elettra Conoly (A’21) will give a lightning talk on the Hereford map, highlighting some of its most fascinating and perplexing elements. A facsimile of the Hereford map will be on display, as well as examples of student research and collaboration with Special Collections.
