Who is an off-campus user?
Are you a current staff, student, or faculty member at Tufts University? Do you you want to use library resources when you're not located at Tufts? Then you're an off-campus user!
If you're a Tufts alum or visitor, see our Alumni Help and Visitor Help pages to discover services available to you.
Accessing digital resources from off campus
As a current student, staff, or faculty member, you can access all of our digital materials, such as journal articles, books, and databases, no matter where you're physically located. Be sure to go to the library's website first! Then you can begin your search by using JumboSearch or one of our many databases and log in when prompted with your Tufts username and password.
The Tufts VPN (Virtual Private Network) AnyConnect application makes this process even more seamless. It minimizes the number of times you might need to log in and allows you to access Tufts digital resources as if you were on campus. We encourage you to download, install, and use it to make getting materials easier.
Creating shareable links to library resources
Do you want to share links to our online resources with other students or colleagues? Use this guide to create links to library resources to share them with members of the Tufts community, since links without the proper format may not be accessible to off-campus users.
Accessing print resources while off-campus
Need something that we have in print? Tisch Library's scan and deliver service allows current students, staff, and faculty to request and receive scanned copies of the print resources in its collections. You can request one journal article, two chapters, or 20% of a book at a time.
Questions and Troubleshooting
If you have trouble logging into a resource from off-campus:
- Make sure that you log in through the library's website with your Tufts username and password.
- Try logging in using a different browser--sometimes, browser plug-ins can interfere with library access.
- If more than one link is listed to get to an item, try using one or more of the other links.
- If the problem persists, please let us know via chat or email.
