Tisch Library MyTERN Media Fellowship

Posted: Fri, May 9th 2025

In partnership with Tisch College's TUPIT program, Tisch library will sponosor two students from the Spring 2025 MyTERN Cohort to continue to hone their podcasting skills this summer. After spending the spring semester creating, recording, and editing podcasts with the 5th MyTERN cohort, Rocio "Rose" Lopez and Jason Stiles have been selected as Tisch Library MyTERN Media Fellows and received fellowship certificates at the MyTERN graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 8th.

Rose and Jason will work with Kim Forero-Arnias, Head of the Digital Design Studio, and Joanna Gray, Student Success Librarian, to move through the finishing, publishing and archival process for podcast episodes recorded during the Storytelling for Social Change course. Fellows will focus on strengthening data and media literacy skills through 2-hour workshops followed by 4-6 hours of self-directed studio sessions per week. The fellowship will also help connect fellows with local non-profit arts organization that specializes in podcast creation to create a bridge from the DDS recording room to creative spaces accessible outside Tufts as fellows transition from the MyTERN program.

The fellowship will culminate with an exhibit and event in Tisch Library this fall. Be on the lookout for details as fall approaches!

From Rose: My name is Rocio Lopez and I’m a recent graduate of the MyTern program. I’m currently enrolled at Bunker Hill Community College, continuing my education in Health Science. I feel ecstatic about the opportunity to learn alongside my fellow MyTern graduates in this fellowship, to gain further insight in creating and polishing up podcasts.
