Open Access funding now available to all members of the AS&E community

We are excited to announce that Tisch is expanding its Open Access (OA) Publishing fund. For many years our OA fund has provided financial support to graduate students, providing up to $3,000 to cover article processing charges (APCs) for publishing in an open access journal.

For the 2021-2022 academic year, we've made available up to $30,000 in total funds for a new pilot program with the goal of filling in gaps in the existing OA funding structures at Tufts to enable all members of the AS&E community to publish open access. Guided by the library's Strategic Framework, we aim to increase access to research & scholarship created at Tufts and to direct library collection funds towards making scholarship openly available.

The fund is now available to the following members of the Schools of Arts & Sciences and Engineering:

  • Undergraduate students
  • Graduate students
  • School of Engineering tenure-stream faculty members or full-time Professors of the Practice (A&S faculty members should apply for FRAC funding)
  • Post-docs who are the article's corresponding author
  • Non-tenure stream faculty members who are the article's corresponding author
  • Staff members who are the article's corresponding author
  • Post-docs, non-tenure stream faculty members, and staff who are not the corresponding author will be considered on a case-by-case basis, in order to equitably distribute the costs associated with OA publishing

Applications are accepted year-round on a rolling basis. Read more about the fund and how to apply.

Please get in touch with any questions about the Tisch Open Access Publishing fund. We can also provide help with choosing a journal to publish in or evaluating an author's contract.
