Tisch Library is pleased to distribute "The Book of Life and Death" by Grace Talusan, winner of the Boston Book Festival's One City One Story initiative. Pick up a copy in English or Spanish in Tisch in the corridor near the Tower Cafe, or download the story in English, Spanish, Tagalog, Russian, Portuguese, or an audio version.

Grace Talusan is the author of the memoir The Body Papers, a New York Times Editors’ Choice selection, a Must-Read for the Massachusetts Book Awards, a Foreword INDIES Finalist, and winner of the 2017 Restless Books Prize for New Immigrant Writing. Talusan was born in the Philippines and raised in New England. She graduated from Tufts University and the MFA Program in Writing at UC Irvine. Talusan is currently the Fannie Hurst Writer-in-Residence at Brandeis University.

The mission of the Boston Book Festival is to celebrate the power of words, to promote a culture of literature and ideas, and to enhance the vibrancy of the city of Boston, and in 2010 we launched One City One Story to do just that. One City One Story is the BBF’s version of an all-city read, but instead of a book, we print and distribute a short story. Our goal is to make a short story available to all, free of charge, to spread the joy of reading for pleasure among the teens and adults of our city, and to create a community around a shared reading experience.
