Darn It! A Visible Mending Workshop

Visible mending is repairing your clothes, and it is so much more- it is care, slowing down, gratitude, creative expression, autonomy, fashion, sustainability, fun, intentional, relaxing, and hopeful!

In this workshop, you will learn to mend your clothes using darning, a woven fabric patching technique that can be used to repair holes and reinforce fabrics to revitalize your well-loved garments and celebrate the act of repair.

Join us in Tisch Library’s DSDI Hub (room 224) on Friday, October 16 from 3:30-5:00 pm.

Please bring a garment you would like to mend, such as a threadbare sock or a hole-y t-shirt. Mending supplies (sewing needles, yarn/thread) will be provided. If you don't have any items to mend at the moment, some practice items from the SMFA clothing swap locker will be available. All experience levels welcome!
