About the Maxine N. Gordon J70 Book Prize
The Tisch Library is proud to be the home of the Maxine N. Gordon J70 Endowment and Book Prize. At Tufts, Maxine Gordon began lifelong valued friendships, and explored and developed intellectual interests for which she was to maintain a passion throughout her life. She majored in mathematics. After graduating, Maxine earned a Masters degree from Northwestern University and became a master teacher of students in math in the Newton and Wayland public schools. A prolific reader, she cherished books. After her battle with cancer, Maxine’s family and friends established the Book Prize to honor her memory. The prize honors students who, like Maxine, share a passion for mathematics, teaching, and literature.
