Bright Ecologies is an evolving work that highlights the natural growth of plants. It was made in collaboration with Tufts NeuroArt Lab and research assistants Fiona Jacobson-Yang, Noor Chadha, and Joseph Carlson-Strom. This research project seeks to study how new forms of public art could advance art’s ability to make social and environmental change. Bright Ecologies will change over time, meaning the plants will grow and the sculpture will shift from minimal to maximal. The project represents an innovative collaboration between the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, the Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning, and the School of Engineering.
Bright Ecologies has been supported by Tufts’ VERSE program, Tufts University Data Intensive Studies Center (DISC) seed grant and SMFA, Tufts. Special thanks to: Dina Deitsch and Matt Murphy, TUAG, Department of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning (UEP) at Tufts and SMFA, Tufts.
