Renewals
- Undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, staff, and sponsored visitors may renew books up to 5 times and renew DVDs one time.
- SMFA Alumni, Museum of Fine Arts staff, and Mass Art patrons may renew materials 1 time.
- Boston Library Consortium (BLC) Users are not eligible for renewals.

Overdue fines
Library fines are charged for overdue reserve materials, overdue equipment, and items that have been recalled by another patron, as well as for lost items.

Course Reserves
Faculty often place items on reserve at the SMFA Library, for courses taught on the SMFA campus. Depending on instructor preference course reserve loan periods may be 4 hours, in-library use only or overnight for 1, 3, or 7 days.
