No renewals

DVDs and CDs can be borrowed for 1 week and renewed 1 time.

You can renew most items you've checked out either online through My Account or by calling the Circulation Desk at Tisch (617-627-3347), the Music Library (617-627-3594), or the SMFA Library (617-627-0080).

Why can’t I renew my book?

  •     Someone else may have recalled this item.
  •     You may have reached your maximum renewal length.
  •     You may owe too much money.

Still not sure why you can't renew your item? Contact us.

If you need a book that another person has checked out, you may be able to recall that item.

How do I recall a book?

When you search for a book in the library catalog and you are logged in with your Tufts username and password, a link will appear in the Get It section of the page to "Request Item". Once you click on it, a hold will be placed for you, and the current borrower's loan period will be shortened to 1 week for books and 3 days for DVDs and CDs.

My book has been recalled, but I need to keep it longer.

We apologize for the inconvenience. However, this does happen from time to time with a shared collection. Please contact us and we may be able to help you with some other options - including getting that item from another library. Overdue fines for recalled items are $1/day.
