ResearchGate is removing copyrighted articles, know your rights

Recently, a coalition of scholarly publishers including Elsevier and the American Chemical Society began taking action to compel ResearchGate to take down copyrighted articles. As of October 10, the coalition reports that ResearchGate “has removed from public view a significant number of copyrighted articles it is hosting on its site.” Additional takedown notices may be forthcoming.

If you are a Tufts author who has shared articles on ResearchGate and have had your articles removed, received a takedown notice, or are concerned about the possibility, Tisch can help. We can help you determine what you hold copyright to, where and how you can share your work based on author’s agreements that you’ve signed, and find places besides ResearchGate to deposit your work, such as the Tufts Digital Library (TDL).

Find out more about making your work available in the TDL here, check publishers' policies about sharing work using the SHERPA/RoMEO database, or get in touch with us with any questions!
